Effect of colours

Use the effect of colours at home

Why choosing the right colour is so important in your home office and workplace

Colour has a greater impact on our well-being than we often realise. While neutral, white walls used to be the norm in offices, the trend today is clearly moving in a different direction. Especially in rooms with little natural light, white can quickly appear cool and greyish – and thus anything but inviting. However, a pleasant atmosphere plays a key role in productive work.

Colours can energise, calm, promote concentration or stimulate creativity. That's why it's worth designing consciously:

  • Blue promotes calm and focus – ideal for analytical tasks.
  • Yellow has an activating effect, promotes optimism and brings light into darker workspaces.
  • Green creates balance and reduces stress – perfect for long hours of screen work.
  • Warm tones such as terracotta or soft shades of pink create a sense of security and a pleasant room climate.

Consider: Which colour motivates or inspires you personally?

This colour should definitely be reflected in your working environment – whether as wall paint, a colour highlight behind your desk or through accessories such as acoustic panels, pictures or textiles.

Being bold with colour pays off: a colour-coordinated workplace has been proven to lift the mood, increase motivation and help us feel just as comfortable in our home office as we do in the office.
