From stage to modern workspace

The new headquarter is being created in Andrew Lloyd Webber's former Old Dance Studio

A new location with history – realised with König + Neurath: In the heart of London, a venture capital client, a leading provider of cloud-based POS and e-commerce solutions, has found its new home in Andrew Lloyd Webber's former Old Dance Studio. The historic, listed part of the building has been sensitively transformed into a future-oriented working environment that preserves the character of the location while meeting the highest standards of functionality.

From idea to implementation - modularity as the key

Together with Constructive Space and interior designer Adam Burtt-Jones, König + Neurath began planning around four months before the move.
The logistical challenges were extraordinary: narrow stairwells, small lifts and room systems that had to be installed on the top floor. The solution was as precise as it was pragmatic: an 18-metre-long scissor lift brought the equipment directly through a window into the rooms of the listed building.

The strength of our free-standing room-in-room solutions, which do not interfere with the building structure, was particularly evident in the sensitive environment of a historic building. They offer space for concentrated work, confidential discussions or collaborative teamwork for one, three and eight people. If requirements change, the cubes can be dismantled and repositioned. This not only created new possibilities for use, but also preserved the architectural character.

Sustainable. Flexible. Future-proof.

Even though sustainability was not a priority in the project, the solution impressed with a clear advantage in terms of resource efficiency. The aluminium profiles used in the TALK.BOXes and THINK.TANKs consist of 25% secondary material, are produced with reduced CO₂ emissions and are certified according to the Hydro Low Carbon Aluminium standard. Flexibility was thus considered not only in terms of space, but also in terms of ecology. A contribution to responsible building renovation.

Conclusion: Design meets function

The room-in-room solutions blend harmoniously into the architectural ensemble: black profiles form an elegant contrast to the light-coloured walls, floors and the natural light that streams in through the large arched windows. The result is a working environment with character – open, calm and at the same time conducive to concentration.

With its new location, the venture capital partner shows how intelligent system solutions can transform historic spaces into modern working environments. König + Neurath has proven that modularity, aesthetics and sustainability can work together perfectly – and that a listed building can be turned into an inspiring piece of the future.
